Imam Hussein (AS) and the Buddhists
7.3 percent of the world's population is practising Buddhist.
Buddhist followers live in Central Asia, Southeast Asia, and the Far East.
Majid Majidi, the well-known Iranian cinema director, had a trip to the Buddhists region in Kashmir.
He tells what he saw about those people relationship with Imam Hussein (AS):
I had a trip to Kashmir. Later, they said there is a region called Ladakh, which is at several thousand feet high on top of mountains.
Ladakh is an area close to Tibet and its population is mostly Buddhist.
There is a very magnificent Husseiniya. We sat in its hall.
I looked at the crowd and there were approximately forty Buddhists at the mourning gathering of Imam Hussein (AS).
I asked if they were Buddhists and I was so interested to talk with them.
Then, I was told that they respect and love Imam Hussein (AS). I was told that what happens during Muharram in that place is unbelievable. You must see it with your eyes, these Buddhists carry their flags with black signs.
And these are our friends, they are from us, they are not strangers.

الإمام الحسین والبوذیة
إنّ نسبة أتباع الدیانة البوذیة فی العالم هی 3/7 بالمئة
ویتمرکز البوذیون فی آسیا الوسطى، وفی جنوب شرقی آسیا، ویعیشون فی دول الشرق الأقصى.
ویقول أحد مخرجی السینما الإیرانیة المعروفین ، عن زیارته لأماکن تواجد البوذیین فی کشمیر وارتباطهم بالإمام الحسین علیه السلام:
کانت لی زیارة إلى کشمیر. فقالوا لی انّه توجد منطقة اسمها (لادک) وتقع على مرتفعات تبلغ آلاف الأقدام.
ومنطقة لادک هی منطقة قریبة من التبت وأکثرها من البوذیین
ویوجد فیها حسینیة کبیرة جدّاً. فجلسنا فی قاعة
فنظرت إلى الحاضرین، فوجدتهم قرابة ثلاثین أو أربعین شخصاً من البوذیین، قد حضروا فی العزاء على الإمام الحسین علیه السلام.
فقلت: هؤلاء الأصدقاء من البوذیین؟ فکیف یمکن لی أن أتکلّم معهم؟
قالوا: هؤلاء من محبّی الإمام الحسین علیه السلام.
وقالوا: إنّ أیام محرّم هنا عجیبة. أی علیک أن تأتی وترى ان هؤلاء یأتون بأعلامهم ورایاتهم، وقِرَب الماء بأیدیهم.
وهؤلاء أصدقائنا، و هم منّا، ولیسوا بغرباء.
