How he became a Muslim?
Professor Roch Boulvin was a Christian, Belgian researcher, physician and surgeon.
In 1955, he was invited to Mashhad by Astan Quds Razavi charity and foundation to organize to transfer his surgical experience in Imam_Reza hospital.
Becoming head of the surgical department, he developed various new techniques of surgery.
Boulvin was influenced several times by dignity and environment of Imam Reza (AS) holy shrine and especially the people who got cured based on their spiritual relationship with Imam Reza (AS).
He did an operation on Ayatollah Seyed Abdullah Milani, one of the majors Shia’s religious authorities. While Ayatollah Milani was in the recovery, Boulvin noticed that he is whispering and praying the Abu_Hamza al-Thumali which made Boulvin decide to convert to Islam.
According to Boulvin: “ while the patient is in the recovery, you can see his real personality and when I saw Ayatollah Milani at that moment that he was profoundly praying to god, and when I compared him with the pope recovery time who was singing a song, in that very moment I realized that Islam is the real truth”.
He converted to Islam in his later life by Ayatollah Faqih Sabzevari.
He died on August 5, 1969, and his body was buried in the cemetery of the tomb of Khajeh Rabi' which is close to Mashhad.

چگونه مسلمان شد؟! پروفسور «روش بولوَن» پژوهشگر و جراحِ مسیحیِ بلژیکی در سال 1333 شمسی توسط آستان قدس رضوی، جهت سامان دادن به بیمارستان امام رضا(ع) و انتقال تجربیات به مشهد دعوت شد
این جراح مسیحی از سال 1333 تا 1348، ریاست بخش جراحی آن بیمارستان را بر عهده داشت
با حضور او برای نخستین بار، جراحی نوین در خراسان شکل می‌گیرد
بولوَن در جوار بارگاه ملکوتی امام هشتم(ع)، بارها تحت تأثیر محیط حرم و کرامات امام(ع) در شفای بیماران، قرار گرفت
پس از عمل جراحی آیت‌الله سید عبدالله میلانی از مراجع شیعه توسط او، بعد از آنکه متوجه شد ترجمۀ کلماتی که در زمان به هوش آمدن به زبان آوردند، دعای ابوحمزه ثمالی بود، تصمیم گرفت مسلمان شود
به گفتۀ او «انسان در لحظۀ به هوش آمدن، خود واقعی‌اش را نشان می‌دهد و وقتی دیدم که ایشان تمام وجودش غرق خداست، آن را با بعد از جراحیِ پاپ قیاس کردم که هنگامِ به هوش آمدن مشغول زمزمه‌کردن ترانه بود. آن لحظه دریافتم که اسلام، حقیقت واقعی است»
او در اواخر عمر در حضور آیت‌الله فقیه سبزواری، مسلمان شد
وی در 14 مرداد 1348 دارفانی را وداع کرد و در ضلع شرقی آرامگاه «خواجه‌ربیع» مشهد به خاک سپرده شد
