while the
water storage in Imam’s camp was finished, Imam Hussain (PBUH) requested
Ibn Ziyad’s army to allow him and his family members’ access to water,
but his request was denied. Children were crying because of thirst,
there was no choice, so Imam Hussain (PBUH) sent his brother Abbas Ibn
Ali (PBUH) to the river bank to bring water. Abbas (PBUH) was
half-brother of Imam Hussain (PBUH) and he was famous for his courage
and bravery, but when hundreds of men attack to one, even Abbas can’t
resist. When he arrived to the river, although he was so thirsty but he
didn’t drink water before children and Imam Hussain (PBUH), so he filled
the waterskin and headed to the camp but the army of Ibn Zyad attacked
him. He fought them to be able bring water for children in camp but the
attackers became more and more. Finally they cut off both his arms, hit
his head and killed him.
