The Imam is the heart of the world of existence, the leader, the preceptor of mankind, and for this reason his presence or his absence makes no difference. What is more, the spiritual guidance of the Imam towards worthy individuals will always be there, although they may not see him, especially as it is mentioned in Hadith that Imam Mahdi (PBUH) comes and goes in among the people and help them without anyone understanding. Thus the guarding of Islam and the protection of the worthy is well undertaken by the Imam, even during the time of his occultation. In reality the hidden Imam is like the sun behind a cloud from whose light and heat existent things may profit, although the ignorant and the blind may not see it.

Imam Sadiq (PBUH) (6th Imam of Shia) also said in answer to the question: “How can people benefit from a hidden Imam? – Just as they do from the sun when it is behind a cloud.”

The Savior in Zoroastrian (Saoshyant)

“Saoshyant” means benefit and beneficial. In the book of Avesta, the word “Saoshyant”is used. Other words like Shushyant, Sushians, Sushans, Susyus and Syusush are also written in this book.

Among the books of Zoroaster like “Yashts”, “Bandahish”, “Denkert”, “Zand and Hooman yasan”, “Jamasabnameh” etc …. we can understand the meaning of saoshyant and sushians from these books. For example, in the book named “Jamasabnameh” there is a discussion about Apocalypse.

The Reappearance of Sushiant

The last savior who will come to the earth is Sushiant like an illuminated sun. By his Reappearance, the religion will be completed and established. In fact, he can find the solution for every problem.

His period is only 57 years. Keikhosro who has some distinctions and honors, praises the religion, and during that period, he will be the commander of 7 conturies. Sushiant punishes the guilty people.

His period is the period of maturity and growth of human. All bad things and lies will vanish and there will be no illness, death, senility, abuse, tyranny and heresy.

People of the Book, do not exceed the limits of devotion in your religion or say anything about God which is not the Truth. Jesus, son of Mary, is only a Messenger of God, His Word, and a spirit from Him whom He conveyed to Mary. So have faith in God and His Messengers. Do not say that there are three gods. It is better for you to stop believing in the Trinity. There is only One God. He is too glorious to give birth to a son. To God belongs all that is in the heavens and the earth. God alone is a Sufficient Guardian for all.  (4:171)

When God asked Jesus, son of Mary "Did you tell men to consider you and your mother as their gods besides God?" he replied, "Glory be to you! How could I say what I have no right to say? Had I ever said it, You would have certainly known about it. You know what is in my soul, but I do not know what is in Yours. It is You who has absolute knowledge of the unseen. (5:116)

"I did not tell them anything except what You commanded me to tell them.

I told them that they must worship God who is everyone's Lord. I watched them as long as I was among them until You raised me to Yourself and You Yourself had also watched over them; You are Omnipresent.                 (5:117)

(Jesus said), "Worship God who is my Lord as well as yours.

This is the straight path".                                                                              (19:36)

God appointed the Imam of the Age to be a guide amongst people ; however it is the people who are the obstacle to his appearance , and whenever they are ready for a single, divine world rule , formed on true justice observing rights, truths and realities , putting into practice all the laws of God without any dissimulation or fear, Imam Mahdi (PBUH) will openly declare himself . So, with regard to Allah , the Merciful , there is not the slightest lack of favor or mercy , for the fault lies with the people that the Imam is hidden and the appearance of his rule is delayed . Still, it must be remembered that the benefits of the existence of the Imam are not limited to outward guidance among people , for the pure existence of the Imam has other benefits which are not necessarily evident among people .

The most important benefit of the Imam’s existence is that he is the intermediary for Divine Favor . For , one the basis of the evidence scholars have produced and also according to numerous Hadith which speak about the Imamate , if there were no Imam , the relation between the world and its creator would no longer exist , because all of the favors of God come through the Imam to the rest of humanity . In many Hadith it is said very clearly that the earth will not remain without an Imam (leader) .

It seems the thought of having a “savior” in Zoroastrianism has an older history than other religions. Especially for those who know the Zoroaster’s birthday 6000 or 11000 years before Christ. However, the right quote about Zoroaster’s birthday is approximately 660 years before Christ based on the documentations.1

Achieving the final victory, reaching the world in which people’s wishes are met, overcoming the diabolic and evil forces as well as the descriptions of the savior or the saviors exist in Zoroastrian scriptures. It is necessary to know that there are terms in Zoroastrian texts which have changed in meaning throughout the history. In fact, different interpretations and understandings have influenced these texts.2

An important issue to consider is the big difference between the “belief in Reappearance” and “awaiting the Reappearance”. Because not only all Shias but also most of the other nations believe in a savior who will bring peace and justice, but not all the people who believe in this are waiting for its fulfilment.

The awaiting person not only believes in Imam Mahdi (PBUH) but also has the hope to see him and all his actions are based on hope and expectation. All the quotes that praise the expectation for Imam Mahdi (PBUH) insist on the necessity of having hope and realizing his reappearance.

Seyyed Morteza Mujtahidi Sistani, the introduction of “Sahifeh Mahdieh”.

This means that the belief and thoughts that we will not see that Beloved Savior in our lifetime is forbidden.

Sufyani sends 70000 soldiers to Kufa to kill the people of Kufa and take them as hostages. Meanwhile some flags will arrive in Kufa among which there are true companions of Imam Mahdi.

Sufyani sends his army to Medina. After Medina they will go to Mecca following Imam Mahdi (PBUH). The commander of Sufyani’s Army will land in a desert.

Suddenly a roar and sound from the sky will say: “O! the hot and dry desert, destroy this wicked army.” And this is the time that the earth will destroy and swallow them. The Surah An-Nisa:47 is in this regard:

“O ye People of the Book! believe in what We have (now) revealed, confirming what was (already) with you, before We change the face and fame of some (of you) beyond all recognition, and turn them hindwards, or curse them as We cursed the Sabbath-breakers, for the decision of Allah Must be carried out.”[Quarn, Surah 4, verse 47]

In Shia Islam, Imam Mahdi (PBUH) is a “hidden Imam” who has already been born and who will one day return alongside Prophet Jesus (PBUH) to fill the world with justice. The promised Mahdi (PBUH), who is usually mentioned in Shia by his title of “Imam Asr” (the Imam of the “time”) and “Sahib Al-Zaman” (the Lord of the Age). In a Hadith upon whose authenticity Shia and Sunni agree, Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) has said, “If there were to remain in the life of the world but one day, Allah would prolong that day until He sends in it a man from my community and my household. His name will be the same as my name. He will fill the earth with equity and justice as it was filled with oppression and tyranny.”
