Victor Hugo And Prophet of Islam and his successor
Victor Marie Hugo was a French poet, novelist which is considered to be one of the greatest French writers.
His most famous works are the novels “Les_Misérables” and “The Hunchback of Notre_Dame” although, in France, Hugo is known primarily for his poetry collections.
“La Légende des siècles” is a collection of poems by Victor Hugo, conceived as an immense depiction of the history and evolution of humanity.
This collection is written intermittently between 1855 and 1876 while Hugo worked in exile on numerous other projects.
He named the third section “L’An neuf de l’Hégire” which refers to the last days of the Prophet of Islam life.
Apparently, he knew the Islamic history very well. Besides describing the character of the Prophet of Islam, he also talks about his successor.
After he left the responsibilities on Ali’s shoulder, he said:
“This is the last dawn that I will see
There is no God but God. Fights for him”.
He came to the mosque same as usual, leaning on Ali, the people were following him, and the wind was gusting through the sacred flags…
