The Savior in Zoroastrianism

The Savior in Zoroastrianism

It seems the thought of having a “savior” in Zoroastrianism has an older history than other religions. Especially for those who know the Zoroaster’s birthday 6000 or 11000 years before Christ. However, the right quote about Zoroaster’s birthday is approximately 660 years before Christ based on the documentations.1

Achieving the final victory, reaching the world in which people’s wishes are met, overcoming the diabolic and evil forces as well as the descriptions of the savior or the saviors exist in Zoroastrian scriptures. It is necessary to know that there are terms in Zoroastrian texts which have changed in meaning throughout the history. In fact, different interpretations and understandings have influenced these texts.2

The difference between the belief in the Reappearance and awaiting the Reappearance

The difference between the belief in the Reappearance and awaiting the Reappearance

An important issue to consider is the big difference between the “belief in Reappearance” and “awaiting the Reappearance”. Because not only all Shias but also most of the other nations believe in a savior who will bring peace and justice, but not all the people who believe in this are waiting for its fulfilment.

The awaiting person not only believes in Imam Mahdi (PBUH) but also has the hope to see him and all his actions are based on hope and expectation. All the quotes that praise the expectation for Imam Mahdi (PBUH) insist on the necessity of having hope and realizing his reappearance.

Seyyed Morteza Mujtahidi Sistani, the introduction of “Sahifeh Mahdieh”.

This means that the belief and thoughts that we will not see that Beloved Savior in our lifetime is forbidden.

Waiting for Imam Mahdi

Subsiding in al-Bayda

Subsiding in al-Bayda

Sufyani sends 70000 soldiers to Kufa to kill the people of Kufa and take them as hostages. Meanwhile some flags will arrive in Kufa among which there are true companions of Imam Mahdi.

Sufyani sends his army to Medina. After Medina they will go to Mecca following Imam Mahdi (PBUH). The commander of Sufyani’s Army will land in a desert.

Suddenly a roar and sound from the sky will say: “O! the hot and dry desert, destroy this wicked army.” And this is the time that the earth will destroy and swallow them. The Surah An-Nisa:47 is in this regard:

“O ye People of the Book! believe in what We have (now) revealed, confirming what was (already) with you, before We change the face and fame of some (of you) beyond all recognition, and turn them hindwards, or curse them as We cursed the Sabbath-breakers, for the decision of Allah Must be carried out.”[Quarn, Surah 4, verse 47]

Waiting for Imam Mahdi

who is imam mahdi

In Shia Islam, Imam Mahdi (PBUH) is a “hidden Imam” who has already been born and who will one day return alongside Prophet Jesus (PBUH) to fill the world with justice. The promised Mahdi (PBUH), who is usually mentioned in Shia by his title of “Imam Asr” (the Imam of the “time”) and “Sahib Al-Zaman” (the Lord of the Age). In a Hadith upon whose authenticity Shia and Sunni agree, Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) has said, “If there were to remain in the life of the world but one day, Allah would prolong that day until He sends in it a man from my community and my household. His name will be the same as my name. He will fill the earth with equity and justice as it was filled with oppression and tyranny.”

Waiting for Imam Mahdi

imam mahdi

When Imam Mahdi (PBUH) will reappear he will introduce himself in the following way by standing between Hajar-e-Aswad and Maqam-e-Ibrahim : ‘O people of the world ! Be warned , I am the Qaem ’
‘O people of the world ! Know that I am the sword with which revenge will be taken .’
‘O people of the world , my grandfather Husain (PBUH) was killed while he was thirsty .’
‘O people of the world , my grandfather Husain (PBUH) was left uncovered without a shroud .’
‘O people of the world ! My grandfather Husain’s (PBUH) body was trampled (by horses) ’

The Savior in non-Abrahamic religions

The Savior in non-Abrahamic religions

🔹 The religions after Abraham, which are brought for humankind by divine prophets, are called "Abrahamic religions"; Judaism, Christianity and Islam are Abrahamic religions, and great feature of these religions is their having the following notions in common: the Monotheism, Resurrection and Prophecy, so they are also called "Monotheistic Religions". 🔸 Religions before Abraham are called "non-Abrahamic", such as Zoroastrian, Hindu, Buddha..., the belief in the Savior and the final Promised person has been in rituals, cultures and non-Abrahamic religions. It is possible to study its trace in East Asia and South Asia (including India, China, Japan, Thailand and Vietnam).

Waiting for Imam Mahdi

imam mahdi

Musa Ibn Ja’far Baghdadi said, “I heard from Imam Hassan Askari (PBUH) (11th Imam of Shia) who said, ′I see that after me differences will appear among you concerning the Imam after me. Whoso accepts the Imams after the Prophet of Allah but denies my son (Imam Mahdi), is like the person who accepts all the prophets but denies the prophet hood of Muhammad (PBUH), the Prophet of Allah. And whoso denies “Muhammad” (PBUH) the Prophet of Allah, is like one who has denied all the prophets of Allah, obeying the last of us is like obeying the first and denying the last of us is like denying the first. But beware! Verily for my son there is an occultation during which all people will fall into doubt except those whom Allah protects.”

It is unquestionable that the idea of Imam Mahdi (PBUH) was projected upon several Imams in turn, but it could take definite shape only around the person of the twelfth, with whom the purpose of Imamate will be fulfilled. There is a considerable body of literature about him, both in Persian and in Arabic. The sources of this literature have been assembled by Saffar al-Qummi, reporter-witness of Imam Hassan Askari (PBUH); al-Kulayni and his follower al-Nu’mani, fourth/tenth century; Ibn Babuyah, who owed his information to a contemporary witness, Hassan Ibn Muktib; al-Shaykh al-Mufid; Muhammad Ibn Hassan Tusi. The principal traditions are collected in volume 13 of Al-Majlisi’s Encyclopedias.

Who is 12 th imam ?

Who is imam Mahdi ?

Who is imam hussain ?

Who is twelfth imam ?

who is son of man ?

Waiting for Imam Mahdi

The first people who saw you…

The first people who saw you…

Forty men of Shiites who had credibility gathered at Imam Askari’s home to ask about the next Imam. Othman ibn Sa'id stood up and said, "O Son of the Messenger of Allah! I want to ask you about something, you are more knowledgeable about it." Imam said, "O Othman! Sit down." Othman was upset and wanted to leave, Imam said:" No one should leave." And no one did so, after a moment, Imam called Othman and said, " I tell you that what you came for?" They said, "O Son of Messenger of Allah!" He said, "You have come here to ask me about the next Imam after me?" they said "yes" at this time a "boy" who was like the moon came in.

Imam Askari said, “After me this boy is your Imam and my successor. "obey him” and "do not disperse" after me because you will perish in your religion.”

The Savior in Islam

The Savior in Islam

The Psalms, the Torah, the Bible…

The only religion whose divine teachings has not been changed and distorted is "Islam." The promised person and savior of Islam for Shiites and Sunnis is called #Mahdi. He is best known as Mahdi.

In this regard, Imam Baqir said: “Rightly he is called the “Mahdi”, because he is led to a secret knowledge.” He will bring the Torah and other Divine books from a cave in Antioch.

Waiting for Imam Mahdi

who is mahdi

Imam Reza (PBUH) (8th Imam of Shia, from the descendant of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH)) has said, in the course of a Hadith, “The Imam after me is my son, Muhammad (Imam Muhammad Jawad), and after him his son Ali (Imam Ali Hadi), and after Ali his son, Hassan (Imam Hassan Askari), and after Hassan his son Hujjat Al-Qa’im (the risen reason), who is awaited during his occultation and obeyed during his manifestation. If there remain from the life of the world but a single day, Allah (God) will extend that day until he becomes manifest, and fill the world with justice in the same way that it had been filled with iniquity. But when? As for news of the hour, verily my father told me, having heard it from his father who heard it from his father who heard it from his ancestors who heard it from Imam Ali (PBUH), that it was asked of the Holy Prophet, “Oh Prophet of Allah, when will the “Qa’im” (the Risen) who is from thy family appear?” He said, “His case is unknown like the Resurrection day. He will manifest it at its proper time. It is significant in the heavens and the earth. It cometh not to you save unawares”

(Holy Quran, Surah Al-A’raf, verse 187)
