My brother” He called Imam Hussain (PBUH), “my brother” for the first and last time. Imam Hussain (PBUH) came to him and held his head but Abbas (PBUH) put his head on the ground and said: “No, don’t hold me because when they kill you, I am not there to hold you”

Who is Ali asghar ?

quote by charles dickens about "imam Hussain"

If Hussain had fought to quench his worldly desires… then I do not understand why his sister, wife, and children accompanied him. It stands to reason therefore, that he sacrificed purely for Islam.charles dickens

who is imam hussain ? ( part 10 )

The night before 10th of Muharram (Lunar month) Imam Hussain (PBUH) gathered his men (companion) in a tent, they were more than one hundred people, then told them: “tomorrow a bloody war will happen and all of us will be killed but paradise is waiting for us. However if everyone who is debtor or wants to get back for any reason but he is embarrassed to leave, I blow the candle to make it easier for you.” Sometimes people have faith but not so deep, when Imam Hussain (PBUH) lighted the candle only 72 people were sitting, the rest left their leader.

shimr of your era

Today , the world is filled with oppression and tyranny . Take notice of what tormentors are doing . Observe what they are doing in Palestine , what they are doing in Iraq , what they are doing in various countries , what they are doing with the nations of the world ; what they are doing to the poor , what they are doing with the national wealth of the countries. Hussain Ibn Ali's (AS) movement extends through all these areas. Imam Hussain(as) taught a lesson not only to Shi’a and other Muslims but also to all freemen of the world .
The leader of the Indian Nationalist Movement { Mahatma Gandhi } mentioned Hussain Ibn Ali (as) about seventy years ago and said , “ I have learned from him .” Moreover , he was Hindu , he was not a Muslim at all .
He has the same impact among the Muslims . This is the story of Imam Hussain , and you are the curator of such invaluable treasure from which all humankind can benefit .            -  Ayatollah Khamenei, Jan 9, 2008

RECOGNIZE THE SHIMR OF YOUR ERA

RECOGNIZE THE SHIMR OF YOUR ERA
The martyr Morteza Motahhari , years before the Revolution , would be the one to say , "I swear to God that today's Shimr is the Israeli prime minister ." These words had such a great impact then and ring true today .
We condemn Shimr because we want to root out influence that has led others to behave like Shimr - in this world . { Shimr killed Muhammad ’s grandson Hussain Ibn Ali at the Battle of Karbala .} We condemn Yazid and Obeidollah because we are opposed to tyrannical rulers ; from rulers such as Yazid , to the rulers of indulgence and hedonism , and to the rulers of oppression over believers around the globe . Hussain ibn Ali (as) rose to power in order to defeat and eradicate governments opposed to Islamic , human and divine values: he did so by uprising .
Our gatherings must be Hussaini gatherings , gatherings against oppression , gatherings against monarchy ; gatherings against Shimrs , Yazids and Ibn Ziads of the present time . And this is the continuation of Imam Hussain's (as) story .                        Ayatollah Khamenei , Jan 9 , 2008

Imam Hussain (PBUH) in his path toward Kufa encountered the army of Ubaydallah Ibn Ziyad , the governor of Kufa , led by Horr , a top commander
in the Umayyad army who later changed sides . It is said that when Horr and his one thousand men army initially encountered Imam Hussain (PBUH) and his family and companions on the day of 4th Muharram . Horr and his army were thirsty as they had been on the way to capture Imam Hussain (PBUH) for many days, So Imam Hussein (PBUH) offered his storage of water to Horr, his army , and their horses . It is said that if Imam Hussein (PBUH) had not offered the water to Horr and his army , the water in Imam Hussein (PBUH)’s camp would have lasted until 19th day of Muharram . Horr did not arrest Imam Hussain (PBUH) first , he was waiting for new orders , but told Imam to set a camp in Karbala and stop his journey to Kufa , also he was ordered to prevent Imam Hussain from going back . Imam Hussain (PBUH) and his family were also not allowed to set up tents close to the bank of the Euphrates .

Great Quotes about Imam Hussain (pbuh)

the text from : www.islampfr.com

Tomas Carlyle

The best lesson learnt from tragedy of Karbala is that Hussein and his fellow companions had a firm faith in God. They made it crystal clear that when the truth and just confronts Vanity and unjust, numerical superiority is of no importance. The triumph achieved and accomplished by Hussein despite of being in minority amazes me.

Irving Washington

On a burning sun of a deserted land and on the heated sands of Iraq, Hussein’s soul is immortal. Oh my hero, my paragon of braveness. Oh Hussein!
